Beta vulgaris

Eight sugar beet lines were selected from genotypes provided by IPK Gene Bank that span a broad range of root and shoot traits. The characterization of shoot traits was done by using the phenotyping platform "Screen House" (Dimaki et al, 2011; www.plant-phenotyping-network.eu/eppn/fzj_screen_house). Imaging techniques were used to measure root traits of plants grown in soil-filled rhizotrons (Nagel et al., 2012).
